I just discovered that some indie is making a spiritual successor to F-Zero and it's pretty cool.

@xianc78 if I had a nickel for every "spiritual successor" to F-Zero or Wipout...

@mr64bit Can you blame them? Nintendo can't find anything to do with F-Zero anymore.

@xianc78 No, can't blame them for trying. They just never seem to go anywhere.

@mr64bit @xianc78 man, redout 2 just came out and ballisticNG is still getting updates. fast rmx was insanely good too and was good enough to get a switch port with more content.

@beardalaxy @xianc78 Redout is the one really good one I know of. (I hope 2 is better than their space fighter one?)

I might have to revisit ballisticNG. I think I wrote it off early on for being "just remake ps1 wipeout"

The Fast series looks really good, but I don't have any nintetndo stuff :/

@mr64bit @xianc78 if you have a pc just emulate it :)
I didn't like redout personally because the pitch mechanics were a bit too hardcore, but ballisticng was great. I wish you could use the Wipeout HD physics for the campaign instead of the classic style but I still had a great time playing it. Fast rmx was super good though. Loved it.

@xianc78 i've been keeping tabs on this, looks sick. there's nothing quite like f-zero out there at the moment, most of these games are closer to wipeout. this looks like a good mix between X and GX.

@beardalaxy Yeah all the other futuristic racers pale in comparison to F-Zero. I'm surprise nobody has made a proper spiritual successor. FAST seems like the closest but I heard that the game isn't as fast and that most of the courses have guard rails.

@xianc78 it's definitely a lot less punishing and it is less fast, but it has similar handling and I really like the idea of the color shifting mechanic, it keeps you on your toes.
