@beardalaxy @helldiverliberator I mean, even back then, they would go after cheat devices and even rental stores. Looking back on it, Sega was a lot less greedy and power hungry (they even embraced cheat devices and rental stores to spite Nintendo), but I don't think being pro-consumer was valued much back then.
@xianc78 @helldiverliberator i think people were just happy to be playing games. it was a much, much smaller industry back then. now, with how monolithic it is, there are so many more people with much louder voices and that's also thanks to the internet.
@beardalaxy @helldiverliberator I think that has more to do with the target demographic being kids and teenagers back then, and they really didn't care about economics. It was mostly parents who called out on their businesses practices, but it was mostly "why does my kid need a Super Nintendo he already has an NES."
@xianc78 @helldiverliberator Nintendo is a company of two halves. Their games have always been amazing and their corporate has always been shit.
