Guys, I need help finding ideas for the MacGuffin (end-goal) item for my dungeon crawler game. What should it be? Please make it somewhat original. Not something cliche like a chalice.

Weapons make good macguffins, especially if you can actually use them for the final boss fight.

@Alex I already have the macguffin programmed in, but the sprite is currently using a copyrighted placeholder. The game ends when you collect it, so making it a weapon would require me to change the code.

Ancient history, some scrolls with forbiden or forgotten knowledge.
A personal belonging to one of the characters (such as a wedding band or sentimental toy)
An egg of an unknown species
Going Meta: the save file for the game

@gabriel Scrolls are pretty cliche.

>A personal belonging to one of the characters (such as a wedding band or sentimental toy)

Could work. Maybe the dungeon could be a large tomb of some deceased friend.

>An egg of an unknown species

Could also work, but I don't know why an egg would be inside a dungeon.

>Going Meta: the save file for the game

Not a metafiction fan.

@xianc78 depends on if you're going to the serious or comedy route. I'm eating a sandwich right now so I thought it would be funny if it was a sandwich and the MC just wanted his sandwich back that the BBEG stole lol.

@xianc78 why not a Divine mirror.

Has a lot of deep implications and it also relates to the Japanese folklore.
