@binkle I don't know if it's just Zuckerberg seizing the opportunity after Elon Musk shot himself in the foot or it's an attempt at reputation repair. Facebook most likely started off as a DARPA project (look up LifeLog), so it's important to them that Facebook stays relevant no matter what.

Zuckerberg is pure greed. I don't like to say such things about people without much proof, but in his case, the entire track record was to always follow the cheapest money.

Facebook will never grow again. Instagram isn't even maintained, even though it's the biggest gen-z social network...because ads are still working.

So, now Trump was elected. And He will inevitabely change the requirements for the government contracts. And since facebook itself is dead, he has nothing left but federal contracts while FB still has the reputation of being big.

BTW, it's not even entierly his fault, that FB is dying, since no social network can survive for more then a generation. It's a imple physical law, that nothing is more repulsive then your mom commenting on your posts. So, if she sees them, it's over. You have to go elsewhere.
