I really hate how this side of the Internet keeps on flip flopping on issues. Like I remember when people would make fun of you for using Windows or macOS and call you a pleb if you aren't using a FOSS OS like Linux or BSD. Now, people will tell you that Linux is for trannies and that you are delusional for believing in the year of the Linux desktop, and that you are better off sticking to Windows.

That's just one example, but it's just one of the many reasons why I just rather be myself than conform into any community's culture.

@xianc78 I don't think I've seen anyone seeing that. More like just expressing distaste for the current state of the online Linux/FOSS community presence and how maintainers act. Sometimes it isn't even about trans stuff specifically, it's just these complete man babies who freak out at the slightest bit of provocation or offense because they are mentally ill and/or thrive off of drama.

But I've never seen that as a reason to stop using FOSS, because the whole point is that it doesn't matter who maintains or uses it as long as it is actually FOSS and works for your needs.

@beardalaxy I've seen Poast(-adjacent) users shitting on Linux users many times.

Which side is that?

I have a feeling that I may be mostly on the other side 🙂

By the way, are there distinctly two sides, or more than two?

@xianc78 ah, then meybe we are on the same side after all 😄

@xianc78 Is anyone flipflopping or are you treating different people as a monolith

@frost Maybe a little bit of both. Due to the (semi)-anonymous nature of the Internet where people can "go dark" and change accounts, it's hard to know for sure.
