Game Industry
This is a really interesting write-up about how the video game industry is in very real danger of collapse, especially ahead of next gen. It talks about human burnout, pollution, energy consumption, revenue problems, etc.
I'm kind of to the point where I think you could argue AAA game dev is unethical. It's increasingly costing both its employees and the societies that sustain it more and more, to say nothing of the damage to the environment.

I for one welcome another North-American industry crash. The dodgy "journalists" and their shit-tier hit-pieces, the abuse 100% crunge-time in the industry and the horrible and exploitative gameplay (to name a few) need to end.
But I don't see this happening any time soon. :-\

I honestly doubt we'll see a gaming crash in "the west". The closest we'll ever see is going to be just like 2008 the 2019/2020 recession, which is going to have a similar effect; being a reduction of disposable income paired with unemployment. With that gone, it doesn't matter if you are indie or Anti-Aircraft Artillery, this is going to hurt either way.

@xyfdi @sandrockcstm The ones who are going to bear the brunt of this are going to be the indie developers who actually care, though. AAA devs can take the hit, they have money in reserve. Most indie devs don't.
I get wanting to hit the reset button because there's a lot of shit in the industry that's not going to go away any time soon, but there's a lot of good that we're going to lose with it.
