@ned @djsumdog Nemesis. After that the Kelvin timeline started and things went to shit.

@djsumdog for me Star Trek stopped after the last movie with the Enterprise crew. New star Trek isn't something I could stomach.

@SuperDicq Its only boomer (and enterpricey) when it has to be coded in Java using an XML format to store and submit data. 🤭

@SuperDicq Yes, it has finally gotten clear for everyone that the post-war neo-liberal rules-based-order consensus only works if there is a block that can enforce this. Soft whispering diplomacy works when you wield a big gun, Europe does not have that big gun.

I agree that Europe should be self-sufficient and I have been advocating for that for a long time now, same that we cannot trust our data with US companies thanks for amongst others the patriot act. It is a shame this ball started rolling only last year, and only because the "wrong" guy came into office. This has been an issue since 2002 onwards. I really cannot take these guys that need it suddenly now serious.

@SuperDicq I don't like communism, so china and its cronies can get fucked for I care.

While the US currently isn't the ideal partner, it can only grow better from here on out really. Besides, some time soon a new president will be chosen and it will be business as usual.

It doesn't really help that European leadership are short sighted, and/or greedy, and/or corrupt politicians wearing the skinsuit of a leader. Pair the political class and media class that is hyper sensitive, panicky, engagement driven and you have some of the ingredients of the shit show we are in now.

@SuperDicq It does not surprise me he invited China into Europe.

@SuperDicq Anything for clicks. And it's not even that special, I X11 fwded things between windows, Linux, and BSD boxes for decades at this point.

@deadheat
Yeah, the entire thing is a shitshow. From the lore, to the people running this. I am not touching this.
@crunklord420

@SuperDicq Go back to OpenBSD in whatever stat it is in after Theo's brain is crammed into a jar like Futurama.

@SuperDicq RIP linux kernel.

Maybe in 30 years time it will be the year of the BSD Desktop.

@SuperDicq I still use my NFS+VLC for all my networked file-system needs.

I used Kodi in the past and that ecosystem got wild with the plugins, the free movie viewers at some point, and the botted and hacked plugins for some minor feature. I always saw it as something you put on a raspberry pi and move on.

@SuperDicq Cool thank you.

Recently I've become a fan of Jellyfin. What is your poison when it comes to viewing backups of your DVDs and Bluerays via the browser?

@SuperDicq It respects my folder structure I've been using for 20-25 years. Some of the backups I have are not or not properly tagged, and the folder structure fixes this. I scroll through the library jump into the right folder of the artist, select the album/ep (ordered by year), queue the music and go..

Navidrome doesn't offer a way from the main interface to easily view my music backup folder and uses the tagging in the audio-files themselves. So there are entire artists and albums I am unable to find from Navidrome. If I only got my stuff from Bandcamp, I'd be fine. But my ABCDE standards conform to the structure that predates both.
