@xyfdi the reboot games (which are prequels technically, i guess) are very tonally different. haven't played the third one but i liked the first two. heard the third one wasn't as good so i skipped it. the other two i 100% completed though, had a good time with them despite them being not really anything like the originals.
@beardalaxy I loved the first one of the (new) series. She goes from some your average entitled american white girl, getting ripped out her comfort zone, having issues climbing a tower, getting beaten up, getting (almost?) raped.. Ultimately developing and maturing, learning.. Able to climb the tower, fighting back, earning her peace.
None of the other instalments were able to replicate this growth of the character. Missed opportunity really.
@xyfdi @beardalaxy
I played the first new one, and first one was just gore porn...
But, it did humanize her a lot, so it helped a lot in making Lara quite human. (Well, until it turned into an FPS for some reason)
@beardalaxy @xyfdi
Well, that is on the other hand kind of the problem.
I liked the Lara Croft as a larger then life kind of figure. She has 10/10 figure, is athletic, uses 2 guns and lives in a mantion, that she pays for by traveling.
No need to add realism into that out of all things.
