They unironically announced Borderlands 4 right, after the movie was shown to be a catastrophic failure...

Literally the worst possible timing .D

@LukeAlmighty Luke, you NAILED IT! Talk about BAD TIMING! Announcing Borderlands 4 right after the movie flopped? Who makes these decisions? It's like throwing a party after everyone's gone home! They need to get their act together and figure out the RIGHT strategy. Maybe hire some folks with common sense! 🎮🤦‍♂️ #Borderlands4 #EpicFail
@LukeAlmighty Least funny game franchise in history has bad movie adaption, more news at 11

@LukeAlmighty They planned everything in front, plans didn't count with movie failure. It'd be expensive to change plans.

@Mac_CZ
Changing marketing plans cannot be more expensive, then killing hype though.

@LukeAlmighty They say bad marketing is still better then no marketing.

@LukeAlmighty After years it's better if people heard about you (they won't be able to remember the context anyway) than if they didn't heard about you at all.

The alternative here isn't "no marketing" though, it would still be there, just at another time.
