What the fuck?
How does Resident Evil 4 (2005) have 25 fucking GB?
Did they even make disks that big in 2005?

Steam is so weird...
Download said 25GB, but the files say 13.

@LukeAlmighty Bruh, that's the kind of size I'd expect the fucking remake to be...
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty It says 15 GB on steam
It has less compressed assets than the SD versions did at any rate (though certain things actually look worse than gamecube because they used the PS2 version as a base for every port going forward)
@LittleTom @LukeAlmighty Wasn't the Wii Edition basically the GameCube version + Wimmote aiming and the PS2's extra content?
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty The Wii version was much better than the PS2 version (better performance, audio etc) but it does have assets from that version which do look worse than gamecube like I mentioned. I think very few people noticed though. It also has balancing changes that occurred with the PS2 version and probably some of its own for all I know.

I'd recommend anyone just install the HD Project mod if they're playing the game today.
@LittleTom @LukeAlmighty Huh, I always assumed that it was based on the superior GameCube version due to those various advantages Wii Edition boasted over the PS2 port - oh well, it's not like you had all of those autistic JewTube comparison videos back then :shrug:
I played both GC and PS2 as a young pre-med and while I cannot authoritatively say because, let's be honest, RE4 is not hard enough to be that memorable from a mechanical depth standpoint, I am CERTAIN there were major balance changes from GC to PS2 that I know all future versions had. The exact nature I cannot say but I knew I was playing a different game with a different ebb and flow even then, beyond the game's sometimes retarded rank system
@DrRyanSkelton @ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty PS2 and on the enemy difficulty is a little easier. Though I don't know how much of that is true on Pro, it might be mostly normal mode with its dynamic difficulty where the toned down difficulty happened for all I know obviously I'm not an expert. I think some of the gun stats were rebalanced but I can't remember.
@DrRyanSkelton @ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty @LittleTom
NTSC-U the NA version Jan 11 2005 does not have many of the changes that were in the NTSC-J version Jan 27. PS2 and Euro/Aus GC releases had the values from the Japanese version.
@LukeAlmighty Sounds like the Capcom devs made it to basically crash a PC in 2005 if you tried to steal it.
@egirlyuumimain @LukeAlmighty Fuck Capcom so hard for being Digital-Only pioneers (I remember well how Ace Attorney 5 was digital-only back when such a thing was absolutely unheard of for full-price 3DS games), yet not giving a shit about compression and keeping their file sizes reasonable.

@ChristiJunior @egirlyuumimain
Digital only has many advantages. For instance, you can download only 1 language files, as well as skipping HD textures when they're not needed...

And many games use this feature, right???

Many games use it, right?

@LukeAlmighty @egirlyuumimain Lmao, the one example that immediately springs to my mind was Xenoblade 2 giving you the option to download Japanese audio for free - of course, that also applied to the physical version...
@LukeAlmighty huh, does it include the hd patch and something else?

@LukeAlmighty The original was definitely under 5 GB. You are probably looking at the remake.

@fuxoft
Nah... definitely the original. But it does seem, that Steam overshot the file size to twice the real size for some reason.

@LukeAlmighty I think it needs roughly double the space to allocate and then install it or something right?

@LukeAlmighty because it's the shitty 2014 release with uncompressed duplicate assets
