I can imagine how various video game movies could play out, just not Mario.

And then the movie begins and we enter Mario doing Mario shit. Koopa is a dick and he saves the princess, the end. Also environmentalism, equality, and feminism.
Or maybe they go full sonic and take the characters and make a different genre of movie out of it.
I personally liked the Sonic/Roadtrip combo they did, was entertaining and fresh in a way while maintaining the core of the character (for me at least)
