I can unfortunately very much confirm this. My parents refuse to believe that sometimes the government lies or is just straight up incompetent. However no matter what we do, Anglo Canada hates us simply for existing.

At least here where I live people are already very irritated. My family in Québéc have hardly seen any impact beyond the media (except for Radio X) of the "pandemic."
My mother had COVID but wasn't aware until she had a PCR test, so it's not like it was severe.

In my area the normies are starting to awaken. Luckily my state hasn't gone full idiot and demand proof of vaccination most places.

I would say Minnesota, but as a Minnesotan please stay away from here. Our government is run by idiots and we also are the George Floyd state.
We did have a strong region of French speakers until about WW2. Some really old folks speak a dialect that is similar to the Trois Rivières accent.
In the USA as far as french Canadian enclaves that's probably Maine or Vermont.

The reason for that is that Québéc has laws protecting and preserving the French language.

One of my buddies is from Louisiana, he's native francophone and he's the only other person in french class who was confused at what some words were called in France French.
French teacher: Comment s'appellent ces choses ? (Image of shoes)
JP and I: Les souliers
Teacher: non, ce sont des chaussures.
JP and I: (visible confusion)

It was a very confusing time when I was told I was speaking french "wrong."
Some "wrong" things I do
Il pleut → ça pleut
Chasseurs → souliers
I've basically never used "nous" until I started french class. «On» exists and means the same thing so why not.

And my french teacher insisted it's used like "If one finds that ..." Just ...no ...

Linguistic prescriptivism is the worst.

She only backed down when the french exchange student said "no, that's correct, you hear this is France too."

That’s the worst part is their refusal to consider that maybe our dialect is valid and it’s own thing
