@waifu nicotine as well. and it's just because it's been used for so long

Who was that fedi user that stated having more than 2 or 3 citations on a wikipedia article meant that the statement was in some way bullshit?

Because I just ran into another example of that. I was reading this article ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T9_(predictive_text) ) And it had four fucking citations claiming the technology was protected by patent law.

Why the fuck would this technology still be under patent law? Patents run for 20 years, and this is 90s stuff. While the idea of patents is appealing, the implementation is bullshit. The vast majority of patents granted are just iterative bullshit, or are vague "methods" with no clear application. I would reckon that of the patents granted, less than 10% represent real and substantial innovations. The rest are just weight so billion dollar corps can shut down the little guy, exactly the opposite of the intent of patents.

Personally, I’d argue that some things flat shouldn’t be up for a vote ever regardless of how much of the majority agrees. The reason for this is quite simple. Anything that can be voted away eventually will be, given enough time. The right of self-defense, of which owning guns is ultimately merely a subset or expression of such, arguably should be such a thing that’s not up for a vote. Free Speech and Expression as well. The majority should not be allowed to vote away the rights of the minority and given enough time, they will

@cowanon @p Alright. So I usually just laugh off UFO-shit because who cares about grainy photos and "i was abducted by a child by the US military in an alternate timeline but i'm back now and they were dicks." :blobcatshrug:

- that being said -

Tesla straight up said he built a radio and was talking to aliens or hollow earth or some highly bongos thing. People wrote this off as mental illness but the man already did other "impossible" things. And then the whole paper seizures on his death is itself bongos and suspect because it's not normal to have a paramilitary response to the death of a crackpot. So that's just plain damn weird and goes on the shelf.

Reagan also had that whole "we gotta dominate space" stint, and apparently wrote about :blobcatoutage: going on, but was also kind of getting dementia so that all got put on the shelf.

One of Podesta's emails is from apparently and astronaut asking to set up a meeting to talk about next steps for disclosure. Which is also going on the shelf because that's weird but :blobcatshrug:

But Trump promised at the outset to "release the suppressed technologies" and "declassify JFK" and things. And anons mapped out his relationship to another Trump who worked for or with the people who stole the Tesla papers. So he ostensibly knows that our based Serbian wizard was doing :blobcatsleepless: and also has the "we gotta dominate space" thing. I guess that can just go on the shelf too :blobcatglare:

my shelf is getting full :blobcatwaitwhat:

fucking hell am I seriously having a discussion on why mutilating children should be illegal

If you ever wonder if Americans are stupid or not, just remember that the male circumcision rate in the United States is 75%. The only ones who top that are Jews and Muslims.

@Orakel
What's esthetically pleasing about a mutilated dried up mushroom?

@boob
The belief, perhaps naive, in inherent equality does more good than harm. Its our responsibility as a society worthy of continuing to exist to care for true "incompetents" and invalids and that's what pure meritocracy is missing, but still, I think the *ideal itself* is valuable.
@Galena >whatever mechanical shell I choose to inhabit in that moment I heard a really cool sci-fi concept that's even better than that: 1) Everyone digitally uploads their consciousness. 2) There's a planet covered in a "mist" of microscopic nanites. 3) At any time, any one of those digital consciousnesses can "possess" a whole bunch of these nanites and form a physical whatever: human (any outfit), cat, catgirl, flying cyborg half-octopus/half-spider. 4) At any time thereafter, you will your current form to dissipate and find yourself back in whatever digital realm you came from.

you ever walk by a mirror and get a glance at yourself and remember "oh yeah I'm not a girl in real life" and want to cry, or is that just me

Something I find rather interesting about text-based social media is how often we have multiple conversations with the same person at the same time. Sometimes we have heated political discussions and shitpost about anime at the same time, just in different threads.
I think it is hard to have intelligent conversations on a platform like twitter since it isn't designed for having long arguments. But I also don't think that intelligent conversations are encouraged offline enough. Kind of turns to the usual greetings and maybe what is happening in the present or what you've been up to. Maybe towards the latest entertainment.
