@ImErin@freak.university @RubyHearthoof@freak.university The shelters here won't let someone adopt an intact dog, they're disgusting. It's surprisingly difficult to find one. Can't judt go around saying you want an intact dog without saying why, and so then I'm sure something would have to be made up, and at that point the only cover is for breeding stock, and at that point you're going to be looking at big money for a dog with papers, since the story wouldn't make sense if you wanted breeding stock but wanted a dog that didn't have papers.
@bitterblossom @ImErin@freak.university @RubyHearthoof@freak.university Really? I feel like you could get some looks and talk after you leave if you only want an intact dog and say that
@bitterblossom @ImErin@freak.university @RubyHearthoof@freak.university Wait we're talking about dog boners here, if the dog doesn't have balls there's no dog boners
@bitterblossom @ImErin@freak.university @RubyHearthoof@freak.university You're better at interactions with irl people than me ![]()
the normal judgement factors for adopting are:
- how cute/ugly it is
- how its personality is
- size
- health
- age
because some people need friendly puppies for kids/families, and some are going out of their way to feelgood by adopting the ugly ones or the ones that have clearly suffered trauma, and some are just adopting dogs because they're used to having dogs around and going to a shelter is both cheaper and more ethical than a breeder...
unless its a trash place, you'll get a cursory background check no matter what, bc it fucks up their day and business if they give a dog to someone and it dies soon after or just gets abused or the adoptive family doesn't actually have the means to buy it the food and trips to the vet, etc.
that aside, you can always just pay attention to local social media (facebook bs) and keep an eye out for local people who have puppies they're offloading. same thing for kittens.
