Social media keeps banning MAPS, saying that their voices and their mere existence are a threat to children, often having explicit rules against the "normalization of pedophilia" (whatever that means). Wikipedia deletes objectively true knowledge about minor attraction and excludes everyone who identifies as a pedophile from contributing to the platform at all. Scientists create biased questionnaires that interpret MAPs as dangerous, and generalize knowledge gained by interviewing a few offenders as applicable to all MAPs. YouTube bans accounts by MAPs talking about their experiences. Fediverse admins spread lies and misinformation about MAP instances, causing them to get blocked network-wide. Search engines purposefully hide websites operated by MAPs. Media outlets either spread prejudice and misinformation, or check everything MAPs say against psychologists, refusing to let MAPs speak for themselves.
TIL that there is actually a word for all of these forms of silencing and oppression: epistemic injustice.
It's an umbrella term for epistemic violence (preventing people from speaking for themselves and claiming that you know more about them then even they do), testimonial injustice (unfairly giving less credibility to someone e.g. because of their sexual orientation), hermeneutical injustice (a lack of understanding of a group's experiences as a result of systematic exclusion) and epistemological violence (academic research painting a target group as inferior).
@arzachel It's about god damn time, tired of doctors being able to treat me like I'm a liar just because they're crazy
