@cardinal_directions at one point, there were people who actually did acknowledge it and tried to teach "safe sex" by teaching about STDs and pregnancy and other reproductive health. This group actually didn't encourage adult and teen sex but they knew teens were likely to have sex anyway and wanted to be more proactive. They even gave out condoms to high schoolers and such. But I've noticed over the years, those ideas have become more disdained. At one point, the vaccine for HPV was offered to girls as young as 13. But now, I actually don't see that very often.
I believe this is Christian fascism. Anything involving sex must be repressed and hidden. And unfortunately, there are people on both sides (left and right) who have latched onto this idea "for the children".
