When it comes to security and privacy stuff, it becomes even harder to communicate with others. I see a lot of beings speak authoritatively like "X is the only acceptable solution to protecting yourself" or "Y program is terrible and insecure" but these statements have a lot of assumptions and opinions baked in. What information you are trying to protect and who your adversaries are matters a lot when it comes to making technical decisions. A solution that is insecure and unacceptable for one circumstance may be overkill for another.

At the end of the day, those with tech knowledge shouldn't be talking down to those who aren't as experienced. It isn't helpful and only serves to drive others away.
