@alyx @LukeAlmighty Battle passes at least encourage actually playing the game and tend to have guaranteed rewards, loot boxes are literally just gambling.

Well, that is exactly what I hate.
Loot boxes give you rewards even without making that game your 3rd job.

You will get a good shit eventually. While battle pass rewards you only if you start worshiping the game.

When I was playing galaxy of heroes, I had fun playing for 20 min a day.

But unlocking a Phantom II in War Thunder was the most painful grind session in my life. (although, that wasn't exactly a battle pass, but a week long equivalent)

Don't they usually have non paid versions of battle passes as well? Sorta the same thing right? I'm fine with loot boxes earned through gameplay though as you're not paying actual money for them

@kroner @LukeAlmighty All the ones I’ve played had free challenges along with the pass ones. You just don’t get as much or as nice rewards.

Yes, and that makes me so sad about it.

Payed battle pass has exclusive items, that a free player will never get, and payed one only if he turns to a prisoner of his own keyboard.

But a F2P player gets (usually) loot boxes proportional to how much he plays anyway, and sometimes, get rewarded with the cool stuff too.

I'm not really a fan of either mechanism tho, I prefer single player games without battle passes or loot boxes

All online multiplayer games feel sameish to me
