Say what you want, but I don't understand, how did Amazon become so rich with the UGLYEST and most user unfriendly website ever created.
@acidiclight
My favorite example is, that youtube by itself doesn't allow you to reverse order of a playlist.
So, someone uploads a 20 part series, puts it into a playlist, any you have 2 options.
1) From part 20 to part 0
2) From part random to random.
It would take a junior dev 1 day to implement. It would even be an amazing entry-level task. But nah, Youtube cannot afford such expense.
@LukeAlmighty Or better yet, when they actively STRIP AWAY features... Why is this still a right-click menu in Windows when 99% of its options are just gone!?
@acidiclight
Ok... What do you mean by blind?
@LukeAlmighty It's a bit tough to explain in detail in a single post
But I was born with a degenerative condition. I can still see enough to navigate during the day but I basically need a screen reader to write and just rely on muscle memory and tactile key switches to type.
So, not *fully* blind but definitely *very* blind
@acidiclight
Thank you. I was just a bit confused about a blind guy talking about designing UI.
And I wanted to know, what kind of topics are ok to talk about.
@LukeAlmighty With my blindness? I'm generally open about it to people who ask/who are curious.
Blind jokes are reserved for close friends who understand my condition though. :P
@LukeAlmighty I hate when I have to click a menu to open another menu to open another menu etc
@picandor
I don't remember the 451 exactly, but I am pretty sure, people weren't sterilizing their kids for fun in that book either.
@LukeAlmighty Not saying it's pretty, but there are far worse out there. CIA money goes along way also.
@LukeAlmighty try using Amazon Web Services and ask that question again..
@juliangro
Your point?
@LukeAlmighty Blind dude here
What I've noticed is, the more widely-used and popular a website or piece of software is, the less the devs care about its UI and UX actually being usable for new users.
Either because they think someone else will help you, or because they can just throw a bunch of annoying tutorial popups that just get in your way. Either way it annoys me to no end.
