It is a cursed idea, that you can select artificial metrics, make them public, and make people compete for that particular metric in order to get a slight increase in pay and recognition of colleagues.
The problem is, that it's a stupid idea. It ruines relationships, makes people play dirty, and draws atention away from the job itself.
@LukeAlmighty We used to do that at the fast-food job I used to work. Problem was that the managers couldn't pay extra so it was through gift cards instead.
