I tried looking up, why does the Funko pop scam works, or any info about them.
I was not able to scroll down enough, to get videos, that aren't from the shills.

@LukeAlmighty probably a mix of fomo and just collecting stuff in general. People start with pops they do like and then they feel like they have to get more.
