The saddest part of Cyberpunk 2077
is that it is not an RPG. They built the amazingly breathtaking world with the most breathtaking GPU melting graphics only to make it into a looter shooter.
@Jens_Rasmussen
I couldn't disagree more :D
@LukeAlmighty the way you would just randomly get phone calls while driving around instead of the quests occurring in the world was really unfortunate for me. my favorite was whenever you go into a new district of the city and some dude already has your number and wants you to do all these car-related jobs lol. because fuck actually going to the place he runs and finding him to get the quests. it was a LOT less diegetic than witcher 3.
@beardalaxy
Yeah... When you point to it like this, I have to agree. It seems like an "innocent decision" that spiraled out into killing the atmosphere completely.
@LukeAlmighty i made it a point not to fast travel in witcher 3 because i knew how many quests you could find just wandering around. thought it would be the same for cyberpunk, but pretty much all you get is gang wars and police shootouts.
@beardalaxy
Funny. At the peak of my Skyrim obsession, I heard this a lot too :D
@LukeAlmighty yeah the way the trailers made it seem to be was way more RPG focused, something a lot closer to a bethesda game. in the end we got something more akin to far cry. i really wish i could have leaned into the rockerboy thing but you didn't really get much choice with how your character was supposed to be, beyond dialogue choices (which were sometimes forced anyway), and stats that barely affected anything.
@beardalaxy
Well, the stats are actually quite insane, when you compare the speedster gameplay to a hacker one for instance. So, they did manage to push through several quite interesting builds.
But even the dialogue is actually insanely rare, once you go slightly off from the main story. I mean, to the point, where side stories give you about 3 choices, and most grindfest missions give you NO DIALOGUE at all.
@LukeAlmighty yeah that's what i mean, the stats only change the GAMEPLAY. they change the dialogue options you have but only a little bit. it would have been cool to incorporate them into a lot more stuff.
The saddest part of Cyberpunk 2077
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club original vision was great. I agree that even considering that cdpr never made an rpg game, amount of missing stuff is really sad. Being able to join different factions would have been very cool at the very least, or going shiny and chrome.
If you take a look at the Witcher 3, it is obvious, that they were going in that direction of linear gameplay loop already, but in that case, most missions still came with a breathtaking and memorable story.
In Cyberpunk, it is just: V, I want you to retrieve the Cuberberterer from this gang. Details in the mail.
Objective: Recieve the thingie
Objective [optional] Do not mass murder all of them.
Wow....... The 12th time in a row was really special.
