I think the secret is that they're all really quick and he delivers them like any other gag, moving on immediately. It's a sleight of hand trick, like a lightly based version of how Last Week Tonight or The Daily Show casually brainwashes people. The fact that he's not getting racial anymore is probably a factor, this probably wouldn't work out if he got really based again.
