@deprecated_ii Not to mention, that it is
1) Not being actively developed, so you have to literally figgure that shit up on your own
2) It completely lacks any advantages of "economy of scale"

@LukeAlmighty yeah I mean even if you want to "save" in the sense of investing in tangibles that allow you to need less cash going forward, it's hard to do in a meaningful way without a decent amount of space

you can't raise a hog in an apartment and even if you have land, often real small scale agriculture is prohibited or will get you regularly hassled by the local government

@deprecated_ii
"they don't save"
Does this nigga even understand the meaning of inflation?

While the economics school was seriously full boring lessons, our entire economic system is build on inflation FFS.

@deprecated_ii
We went from "why don't you buy a house" joke to a "why don't you buy a house AND a land" as a serious response to being poor. :babyRage:

@deprecated_ii
> Have you been growing vegetables in your garden?

Your garden... This insults me on the deepest level, and shows that the video was made by a boomer.

I don't disagree with his dysgenics point but as far as the first 10 minutes or so, it's really not reasonable to say people can just go back to doing the things that people did 50 years ago when they didn't have enough money

the legal baseline cost of living *has* been jacked through the roof because many of the ways people used to live cheaply were either completely outlawed, or the social/economic environment was destroyed. plus there are a fuckload more people now

cooking from scratch and buying secondhand clothes doesn't begin to cover the increased costs of merely existing within the law in western countries today
