I'm really disappointed with the new season of His Dark Materials. They took a subtle yet deep critique of modern society and completely butchered it, almost like making 1984 as a romantic musical.

His Dark Materials is ostensibly anti-religious but if you read between the lines, it is in fact deeply anti-authoritarian.

In the story, there is a brutal power-structure called The Magisterium which controls what people can say, ask, even think. Everyone dislikes different parts of it, but because the public discourse is so polluted by it's many arms, almost no one can truly see it for what it is.

There is suppressed technology, bullshit science, corrupted schooling, even secret agents abducting children away from their parents and experimenting on them. The parallels are far too significant to be accidental.

But what HBO did with the new season was to strip out the meaning, leaving a hollow fantasy/action show about killing god. But to add insult to injury, they "Netflix'd it".

I only watched the first episode but what really killed it for me was two angels (protagonists) doing a gay interracial kiss. Not that I'm particularly offended by gay interracial kissing - to each his own. But pushing that into a movie where it's not the topic, is symbolic of bowing to the Woke/ESG power structure which is ruling in the west.

At the end of the day, there's just nothing more pathetic than talking about anti-authoritarianism while sitting on your knees.

I cannot keep this to myself. There is a website (radio.garden) where you can listen to radio stations all over the world for free. No log in. No email address. Nothing.

When the site loads, you are looking at the globe. Slide the little white circle over the green dots (each green dot is a radio station) until you find one you like.

I have been listening to this station in the Netherlands and it absolutely slaps. I have no idea what they're saying but the music is fantastic.
