I actually agree. When I think about what they actually can offer, every single option would be ridiculously more expensive, then what they think acceptable by today's standart.

And to pull the good old "it's all about me", when I saw it as a young boy, the story prety much said, that all the happiness I feel in life, including playfulness etc is actually a cope that will one day come to an end. It is inevitable, that one day, I will become sour, "leave the island", and everyone who leaves becomes an ugly monster like Hook.

I completelly agree. The original felt weird to me even as a child. And to be honest, it feels more like a nostalgia blast to childhood to people who suffer in adulthood, then an actual story for kids.

But at least it's... something.
