@galena ok, that would solve it I guess.

And I hate talking about ethics, since 90 percent of it is based on individuals gut feelings.

@galena I cannot believe I am responding to this...

Yes, animals will be abused, but don't you think that for the safety of all people included, the animals must be still prety tame, meaning they must not be abused to the breaking point.

That means, that I would guess that they are less abused then in other industries.

(Tldr: Pissed off hamburger won't kill anyone)

But what do I know... I never saw any of that shit anyway.

@LukeAlmighty Very good point. Neural nets are complex beyond our comprehension. My point was that the AI our sci-fi fantasies predict - basically just a mechanical human - is extremely unrealistic, and not something we're going to be seeing any time soon. They can't replicate humans, and struggle with some simple things humans have no problem with. What they can do, however, is horrifying beyond belief. We dreamed of something simple and beautiful, but what we created was an incomprehensible nightmare

@galena I don't understand this opinion at all.

We have reached a singularity decades ago. AI is already much better then humans. Computers can process data billion times faster then we can, but because we are better at recognising a cat from a toaster means that we're smarter? How?

Most of modern research is just us giving a few bits of instructions and computers doing the rest of the work. And the ammount of our imput does decrease every day.

And I know that you will say that "well, actually singularity is the point when computers are designing better computers"...

And how exactly are we designing our new hardware again?

@LukeAlmighty @icedquinn @djsumdog The steam controller is GREAT for one thing: playing any game that doesn't support a "normal" xbox type xinput controller, but supports keyboard and mouse. With this, you can play like SIMCITY or Rollercoaster Tycoon on a tv with a bit of fiddling. Although, I hate using it with Steam vanilla, I use a python3 port of a python2 program called `sc-controller` and it works without having to use Steam as an intermediary launcher, which it is terrible at. Gyro controls for shooting are shitty, they are a cop out and shooters are BAD with this controller. Expect to be gimped heavily in online play. Expect to need a more "traditional" controller with two joysticks for most games.

tl;dr Has the ability to play games on a TV meant for a KB+M, but sucks for anything else really. Shooters especially. You'll probably want another controller lying around that supports Xinput or something.
@lain_os @allison @coolboymew @georgia @icedquinn @wish

it's their slave morality showing, can't imagine a society where everyone is strong and healthy, thus instead of railing against the society reproducing the creation of weakness and diminishing people they would rather have those things be accepted and encouraged and attack the people demanding a form of agency, it's mostly an attitude from the hobbyist activist

@coyote @icedquinn @djsumdog
Ironically enough, I am still wandering, just how good would that gamepad be for PC...

Do you have any experience with the steam controller?

@weeb the problem is that normies do see that as incredibelly rude and un-civilized.

Just watch the reactions to the first presidential debate. When trump interupted Biden to defend himself from slander, all people saw was him being rude.

That is how you eventually end up with 10 polliticians each saying different bullshit while none of them getting called out.

@coyote @djsumdog the politicians of course...

Oh. You meant a different kimd of entertainment.

COVID mis-information

@devrandom then you are mistaken, cause you’re off by 100x.

@djsumdog
Well, I am seriously wandering just how bad the scalpers are for the big data people. Try planning for manafacturing, when you don't know if 90, 50 or 10 percent of your orders were organic.

Still woudn't be a problem if people werent stupid, so I cannot blame the scalpers.

@nerdman @realcaseyrollins
I am not even sure that is a bad thing though.

Yes, star trek's formula was getting a bit old. Enterprise (my favorite show) tried to solve it by putting them throu as morally gray situations as possible.

Dirty humor is another way to solve it I guess.
