@LukeAlmighty for me, the biggest insight is how propaganda is evolving.. what worked years ago no longer works today.. today propaganda has to be more covert, more formless, more indirect..

for example, during socialism the enemy was clear - the party.. although I lived only ten years that time, I think it was clearer who was who.. in other words, did you listen to bad music? -> you were an enemy of the state.. simple..

today everyone listens to what they want, wears their hair the way they want, does what they want and still are not enemies of the state.. the system has integrated almost everyone.. the propaganda works for bigger audience.. basically the only real dissidents of the system today are the homeless..

what has also changed is that the result of today's propaganda is not fanaticism, but rather paralysis.. this is achieved by a flood of information.. the result is the inability to agree on even one conclusion.. and where there is no ability to agree, to unite, there is no possibility of resistance and, on the contrary, complete control is possible.. so the goal of the propaganda is still achieved..

maybe I'm wrong, maybe if I lived in the time of socialism it wouldn't be so clear.. maybe in thirty years it will be also clear who was an enemy today, who was a propagandist and who was a dissident.. but still i thing the propaganda evolves and especially thanks to Internet..

@mig
Interesting insight, although the way you're describing is returning with the rise of CRT.

Although the CRT cannot work in czech republic for obvious reasons, it is only a question of time till we get a variation that actually is.

People can believe any shit you offer them, if it offers any semblance of an anwser on what burdens them the most.

I have not read Hitlers masterpiece, but I red the Communist manifesto. I do not believe, that there was any part, that could be considered a complete thought.

Yet, people reference that shit to this day, because it helps them select the "problem", "enemy" and the "solution". I hope, that I will gain the same understanding from this book aswell.

There's a reason people use Uber

@alex
Obviously, from qhat you said, the most common description of this book does not cover the important parts :blob_thumb:

@alex
Ok, I will take a look at it, but I was saying it might be qorth it to compare this fate with 2 most common current day alternatives.

1) single moms on wellfare who have no man of value in their life, and their kids remind them of some random thig.

2) career women, who in 40s realize they are no longer fertile.

When you fall into these scenarios, I can see why living under a tyrany might seem like a good choice.

@alex
That is because although you might hate it, the modern single independent women's life is a fate even worse then the one described in Handmaid's tale.

@LukeAlmighty @Synclair this is getting way too obvious and I'm getting really worried
>non-violent movements are successful!
>if you criticise BLM you get banned though

It's just envy isn't it?
This is the most convoluted way of saying, this guy has more money thwn he and his childern can reasonably spend in their life...

Yes. A dm^3 of water is 1kg (a result of size skip), While a ton of water fits m^3 of volume.
Were you trying to prove a point?

Plus, there is no reason not to use multiplications in real life. I don't plan my week in seconds but in days...

But that should not affect the scientific tools.
