@Majkatsu That's why people like me end up shrinking the scope of emotionality, trying to care for everyone will consume you. If you aren't omnipotent, you end up needing to pick between prioritizing certain circles closer to you or just despairing as you see your care being abused against you. People might confuse it for genocidal apathy but in fact it's just lowering expectations to something doable and working from there. It'd be lovely to care for and help all of humanity directly and in one move, but that's beyond human ability, and a bad strategical move based on empathy now can distance or make impossible a much bigger breakthough later that would help an order of magnitude more. It might look like machine thinking but the goal is ultimately not burning out without accomplishing anything.
Letting yourself care for all will only turn you to fuel for someone else's crusade. You can't openly admit to being a very nice person without pretty much firing a flare for all vultures to spot.
