I mean, the assumption that Pokemon players are exclusively or even primarily kids is already a dubious one, and removing all player choice because Game Freak Knows Best is just extremely wrongheaded game design. It reminds me of Final Fantasy 13 being ridiculously linear so that the developers could tell the story *exactly* how they wanted.

Tons of extremely big, content-rich games (Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3, GTA V etc) have been extremely successful even in today's environment. Those are games that take up far more of your time than Pokemon's main adventure. Actual challenge in Pokemon games potentially bumping up playtime from 20 to 25 hours would hardly hurt the game.

For the record, I've hardly grown out of Pokemon. Generation 5 is my all time favorite, but even Gen 6 and 7 had plenty of good things. Pokemon Sword/Shield is not only not a good Pokemon game, it's not a good Switch game or a good 2019 release. The only thing that keeps it from being an outright bad game is the core Pokemon formula still being really good.

theoretically they could get non judicial punishment for this, especially since they are doing it in uniform. Unfortunately our woke military will probably celebrate this rather than punish it.

But the M5M would have ya believing globalism, China are good and Trump and the Covid narrative is bad. Anecdotally, a lot of people are no longer believing the BS because the Deep State and M5M has become so blatantly biased that it’s lost all credibility.
