TL:DR, I think. Instead I use this... analogy:

Political power is an island in the middle of a lake filled with diharrea. And there are no boats.

The apology was more for @sim, I know he enjoys a comfy experience when possible on here instead of a contentious one.

I believe anything that would cause problems was on the table for not just US Democrat leaders but also for world leaders who wanted him out.

I have had a theory about politicians for a long time that holds that most politicians who get there by any method other than party contrivance get to their post with an honest intent to do good and then get dragged into defending the old guard's bullshit to get anything done, or they don't get anything done at all and can't stay in office.

The problem is, by the time they're in a position to do the good they wanted to, they're tied to the bad decisions they've defended - even if they were the decisions of others. Meanwhile, modern mass media has made it impossible to change your mind in politics even for valid and well-reasoned changes in circumstance. They are quick to cry "hypocrite!" even if you validly change your position.

I would rather see any politician - of any party - give a speech saying he was wrong and why he's changing his view than see him entrenched in a bad position just because he has publicly taken it before. But that's not how our media allows it to go.

I believe the fear is the intended purpose of the messaging. There is nothing benevolent about what has been done over the past year and a half. If it were really being done for the right reasons by good people, the messaging would be consistent and they'd own their mistakes instead of the constant gaslighting we've seen.

@rin why are there so many entries on here for fucking numbers? Like how does that even work? How to you appropriate a MATHEMATICAL CONSTRUCT?

@leyonhjelm @Locksmith @LukeAlmighty @fluffy @nerdman Yeah. Honestly, I just got the impression that we went into a lockdown too late. This virus is basically another virus that is here to stay because it wasn't stopped in china where it began. And not having fresh foods doesn't help.
