We're paying for surveillance projects that nobody wants. We're paying salaries for PR companies that the government hires to *sell* the surveillance projects to boomers. We're paying for drones. Do you want that? If you actually had a say, would your tax dollars go to that?

The entire DoT budget for 2022 was $132 billion (of which less goes to "roads" than you might expect, but their office has a breakdown: https://www.transportation.gov/budget/dot-budget-and-performance ), the DoD got $767 billion, and that's without including the CIA or other agencies funded from the black budget. $475 billion was spent on interest from money borrowed for previous years' deficits, that's 3.5 times the amount spent on "roads".

Should people that live in places with less public infrastructure pay less "rent"?

Přijde mi, že svět se zbláznil. Děje se to všude nebo jen v naší západní kultuře? Jako by platilo, že čím je něco víc mimo, tím líp. Tenhle princip je vidět třeba v umění, kdy se vystavují kokotiny, nebo v prodeji NFT, ale taky, a hlavně, v nerealistických rozhodnutích politiků, kteří snad už jen předstírají že něco řídí, natož plánují. Co je podstatné, se neřeší a naopak. A nebo tomu tak bylo vždycky a je to teď jen víc vidět?

Podle mě to tak vždycky nebylo. A řekl bych, že za to může luxus, kterého si západ užíval posledních několik generací. Přestalo se kvůli němu vnímat, na čem byl postaven natož plánovat, jak ho udržet. Projídají se hodnoty, které byly vytvořeny předtím, ale nové už se nevytvářejí. S hrůzou se pak zjišťuje, do jakého stavu to dospělo, že se v tom stavu už ani nedá nic vyřešit a ad hoc politika pak připomíná bláznění.
