Every time I have to make a whole day of small talk with some dude under 40 it always trends towards listening to him describe how terrible every game has been for the last 10 years, only to be capped off with a list of the ones he’s looking forward to because they “seem good”.

I can’t take it, I’m going crazy, it’s the same thing time after time. We’re no different from the boomers bitching about woke TV but still dutifully taking their shoes off and grabbing the remote first thing after walking in the door.

Everyone’s going through the motions, dutifully, obediently eating their boyslop media until death, bitching about it the whole way. Well, I do get the vibe some of the gamers just feel like they have to play a lot in order to get use out of their $5k rigs

Characterizing their censorship as “safety” is certainly a disingenuous use of language. It’s the kind of thing a marketing analyst whose background is in Tumblr pronouns would come up with. But really, I don’t want to interact with those kinds of people anyway, aside from maybe getting them to light their hair on fire because they get confronted with the reality Dylan Mulvaney isn’t a woman just because he changed his pronouns on LinkedIn.

Anybody who doesn’t reflexively see through the use of “safety” as a euphemism for “censorship” isn’t someone worth corresponding with in the first place.

What I find so funny about these articles is they pretend that there aren’t two fediverses. These people have to maintain humongous block lists of domain names just to preserve their utopian left-progressive atmosphere. It’s an uphill battle for them in spite of all their institutional support because any idiot with $5 and a domain name can go on Linode and just start their own. And they do.
