I remember a story about a German company that got bought by an American company and the parent company sent over their own managers and whatnot. One of the first things they did was ban beer at work and ban the afternoon beer break. No beer with lunch either. Naturally, that didn't go over well and the German branch went from being the company's most productive and most profitable branch to being their least productive branch and actually costing the company money virtually overnight. It took them something like 3 months to realise the error of their ways and roll all the new policies back.

On the bright side IIRC the German company was apparently able to negotiate to have the company provide free beer to the employees so silver lining.

I've never understood the mentality of, "Man, this sure is a well oiled and fast running machine we just bought. So what we're going to do is remove that part of it over there and I'm gonna throw some of these wrenches into it and we'll just see what happens... Why is the machine all fucked up and not working right anymore?"

If things are already broken then it's whatever at least you're trying something new but for things that are already running smoothly, I just don't get it.

#skola Čím dál víc se mi potvrzuje, že nadaní žáci se naučí víc mimo školu (a sami). Nevím jestli má vůbec smysl, snažit se jim cokoli cpát do hlav (tedy postupy, které sice umím, ale které už jsou třeba passé) nebo jim radši nechat volnost.

Řešením není ani dávat jim víc nebo složitějších úkolů. Dnes je vývoj technologií tak rychlý, že jim kolikrát můžu leda popřát hodně úspěchů a těšit se z toho, že je těší to co dělají (a že mi ukážou technologii, na jejíž pochopení nemám čas).

Učitel je dnes tak spíš psycholog nebo ten kdo snad trochu lépe poradí než chatGPT. Nebo má kontakty a dovede něco dohodit.

Honestly, my mum used to work 7 days a week when I was growing up.

Yet somehow she was never paid on time, or her payment was withheld. Or she got wage deductions if she didn’t do the paper work on time. It adds up and they would never tell her until they cut out 200 from her already meagre salary to care for her family.

I don’t want to fed post, but I swear to God no amount of “I’m a good person” is going to save a small business owner from the wall. They harm people by doing this shit. Debt kills and ruins families.

I hate that employer so much. I hate her. It’s been a decade and I still hate her. Religion really is an opiate because I seek solace in believing that someone like her will burn in eternal hell fire. She deserves internal hellfire rn. I hope she gets bad indigestion and explodes. Pissant dirty leach cunt she is.
