@icedquinn A GPU isn't an array of CPU cores, as CPU cores typically are designed to execute any sort of operation.

A GPU contains lot of processors that are specialized at limited graphical and vector tasks and therefore do those tasks very fast, but can't do other processing operations.

Memory buses are often shared to ensure that the cores are sufficiently fed with the data to process.

Libraries like OpenCL can be used to convert general operations into specialized operations and then process them very fast in parallel on the thousands of GPU cores.
