@plutographer @ArdanianRight @Loki @LukeAlmighty @okabe_rintarou The contrast to Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword is extremely stark. Of course, BotW sold much more than those two games combined, so maybe hour-long forced tutorials weren't necessary for commercial success after all...

@okabe_rintarou @ArdanianRight @Loki @LukeAlmighty Zelda: Breath of the Wild is by far the best-selling Zelda game ever, and it's also the hardest 3D Zelda. It has actually sold more than Pokemon Sword/Shield did, despite being much harder and lacking hand-holding.

Of course, if Game Freak really worried about difficulty and grinding turning off casual players, they could have introduced multiple difficulty settings. Instead they went with the worst and laziest option available.
