- Every graphic pipeline has their own shader language
- Every game engine also has their own implementation of the language and implements their own built in functions and variables
- Every GPU supports a specific API and supports specific features
- There is little to no information on the internet about it. Just googling about what a "texel" is yields barely any significant results. And this is just a basic thing.
- And the little information there is, is specific to a certain API or game engine, and jumps into complex code and math without proper explanation on how things work.
