It's a potentially dangerous work environment, with potentially dangerous equipment. Between liability and real risk, they have to be firm.

At a previous company, one department was told to start drug testing, the and VP said she couldn't afford to lose half the department. Her rules were simple: don't take illegal substances on company property, don't be too impaired to do your job. She was awesome.
