@dave To be fair, it’s orders of magnitude not as bad as bailing out the banks

@skotchygut @atomicpoet @fediversenews

It’s hard because it’s the architectural flaw of ActivePub. But I’ll try:

Technical side.
1. There should be automatic notification of users when the major instance is blocked.
2. There should be a list of all blocked instances by your server for easy access.
3. You should be able to see accounts on blocked instances by demand through the relays.
4. Much easier method of moving to another instance with a nomad identity.
5. Self-hosting should be as simple as installing an app in AppStore.

Communication.
All major fediverse actors should understand the responsibility for the whole network, not just their instance. Every time when you block the entire (major) server, you damage the network. Hence such a decision shouldn’t be rushed and should be better conducted through some elaborate discussion not just between two instances but also with other major server owners. Defederation should be only the last resort.

Yes, at calckey.social, we blocked mastodonapp.uk. This was not an arbitrary decision.

We received multiple reports of transphobia from mastodonapp.uk, with no action being taken from their mods. For the safety of our users, many who are transgender, we had to initiate defederation.

This was not a choice we made lightly, but our community’s safety comes first.

@rlier23 @mario @Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty stastically speaking: all human beings on average have one testicle and one breast.

Statistics is not logic.
@rlier23 @mario @Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty I like MH Rise. My issues with it have nothing to do with overall modern trends. I think all the QoL improvements were great and they addressed many issues that MH has had. The most important one being the reason you even have a big map and don't just have arena quests (with maybe a side room for safety) incentivizing "foreplay" with quest specific buffs, props and a using monsters to ride and fight the target monster makes it that exploration doesn't feel like as much of a chore.

The MH series itself is a fucking shitshow of confused design statements and vestiges. But it still carried on because there was something good about it DESPITE all these issues. As time goes on, we learn. I see no reason to be pessimistic. Nothing that is old that is good is truly lost.

My issue with MH: Rise is that Charge Blade sucks. But... that could be because 4th gen introduced such drastically different weapons like CB and IG that were such crazy gamechangers, it made users of the more traditional weapons jealous. So you see how they tried to democritize it by nerfing them and also doling out aspects of these weapons in hunter styles in Monster Hunter Generations/Cross.

Why did they have to do that? Maybe it's because Longsword boomers were complaing. So in effect... my one issue with NEWER Monster Hunter games was the result of oldfags.

Pessimism is gay.

@Tony @rher @D-Droid @PraxisOfEvil I felt bad that I blackpilled my parents, I was the first boy in the family to date w/ tinder. Hooking it up and showing them the ladies on offer was not smart. Soured them on a lot of the idea, took a while to get them to believe the chicks I’d bring home were worth a damn

@LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 No, it's the hu-white supremacy that's causing the increase in cost!
Diversity hires get arrested more often, causing a delay in development.
Posting bail is also costing Triple-A developers a handsome sum.
Apparently King Charles doesn't want to be known as the "Defender of the Faith", he wants to be "Defender of Faiths", plural. Nigger, you realize that the world religions are contradictory and often opposed to each other, right? Supporting one means rejecting/opposing the others, claiming to believe in them all just means that you don't believe in any of them.
