The act of conception, the creation of a distinct DNA inherently denies the numerous other possible DNA combinations that could have occurred from the parents' DNA.

@alyx @Eris we're not talking about abstract movement of genes or bio chemicals in an environment. We're talking about murder which is a human phenomenon on a human scale.
@Greannach @alyx

This thread illustrates my original point wonderfully.
To justify murder this man is now seriously asking the question "what even is a human anyway?"
@alyx @Eris The separation you are making between human and person is not appropriate in this context. You have not established any distinction.

@Greannach @Eris
What purpose would it fulfill to state the distinction, if Einstein over here things his foot is a person?

@alyx “the distinction”

This is very misleading. It implies you have command over the language such that you can unilaterally decide what “the distinction” between humans and persons is. It’s a Jewish redefinition, language-loading game.

Command? No. A better understanding of the language, maybe.

@alyx @NEETzsche @Greannach Part of arguing is placing your position on equal value to the one you are opposing. You seem unable to do that.
@Eris @alyx @NEETzsche You gotta have at least a drop of empathy for your opponent to actually argue with them. Otherwise you just end up making dismissive passive aggressive statements.
@alyx @NEETzsche @Greannach Yes. Both of those are opinions. Someone on either side who wants to argue with the other needs to understand that.
A round earther cannot just go "You are a flat earther therefore i win." That's not how arguments work.

@alyx >So “the earth is flat” is on equal value to “the earth is a sphere”?

If we’re in a flat vs round earth debate, yes. You don’t think certain positions effectively get an autowin when they end up debated, do you?

@Eris @Greannach

@NEETzsche @alyx @Eris Anyway Ill cut out of this debate now, but Ill add lastly, hopefully you Alyx will reconsider your support of baby murder, even if it is just to consider being less tolerant to its most liberal excesses.

@alyx “a better understanding of the language, maybe”

I highly doubt it, since we’re all writing to each other in the same language and I can efficiently categorize your word games.

@Eris @Greannach

@NEETzsche @alyx @Greannach

The quality of your argument is defined by how well it conforms to how he thinks.

@Eris Anyway, the only coherent argument I can think of that abortion isn’t a type of murder is that, depending on your jurisdiction, abortion might be legal. Murder is generally considered to be illegal homicide, not merely premeditated homicide.

That’s a legalistic argument, though, and it’s me playing devil’s advocate. We should totally banhammer abortion as a form of murder at the Federal level, femoids get rekt

@Greannach @alyx

@NEETzsche @Greannach @alyx

>Murder is generally considered to be illegal homicide, not merely premeditated homicide.
This is why most dictionary definitions of murder are shit and wrong.
>and it’s me playing devil’s advocate.
The beginning of wisdom for me was learning never to do that.
@NEETzsche @Eris @alyx Yes I think Eris and I were thinking of murder in the biblical sense instead of the modern legal sense.
@Greannach @NEETzsche @alyx I define murder as "The unjustified killing of a human being who is a co-member of your society."
@Eris @NEETzsche @alyx Right, that's a fairly universal definition I think. More or less.
@Greannach @NEETzsche @alyx It's a universal definition. That's how morality works. The universe (God) defines these things.

@Greannach @Eris @alyx I define murder as “homicide that pisses God off.” Abortion qualifies.
