Internet is very weird for me right now.
International download speeds seem to be very inconsistent. I'm either getting my full contract speed (usually to EU capitals) or less than 1Mbps to anything else.
At the same time upload speed is just fine everywhere around the world.

The result seems to be that fedi has reached a record low loading speed for me.

@alyx Are you sure it's not just server load issues? I switched instances because my previous one couldn't even load the local timeline

@LaoBan
No, it seems to be down to my ISP.
I've tested through speedtest.net on various international servers. And for cases where speedtest.net returned <1Mbps on cable, the same server got good speeds on my phone network.

I just can't really figure out what could be the issue, to where some servers can get 200-500Mbps, but others in the same country <1Mbps. I literally got a case where London gives me either 500Mbps or 0.6Mbps from one test server to another.

@alyx Don't use the speedtest on speedtest.com - that contains proprietary JavaScript.

Use speedtest-cli, which is also better in every other way.

@icedquinn @Suiseiseki
I'm sure it is, but considering he's not actually following me, and this is the 3rd time he did this (and quite promptly so), I can only conclude he is stalking people. In which case I'm thinking about blocking him.

@icedquinn @Suiseiseki
P.S. I've tried speedtest-cli before. It's utter shit. It can't even find a fast server to test against in my own country.

@icedquinn @Suiseiseki
The only thing it's good for is testing your internal network. But I can do that just fine with a file transfer.

@alyx >Do you like to stalk people or something?
>I can only conclude he is stalking people.
Why do you attribute to malice my prompt freedom posts?

I can feel when something proprietary is being posted on the TWKN and can find the post right away, so I end up replying with high speed.

@Suiseiseki
Sure buddy. Take your proprietary radar super power somewhere else.

@alyx idk if this is related at all, but i've noticed that certain mullvad servers have been slow as shit as well.

@beardalaxy
Testing now, things seem to have solved themselves. Considering my ISP had the issue, but the mobile phone network didn't, I'm guessing it was just an issue with how my ISP was connecting to everyone.
