Counterpoint (playing devil's advocate): if people couldn't vent online, and had to take things IRL, maybe things would actually get resolved more often, instead of people just venting into nothingness and nobody doing anything about it.

@LukeAlmighty Whoever actually thinks that's a definition of fascism is a moron. What if the past of a nation is characterized by democratic liberalism? Let's be honest here, USA had a better understanding and implementation of liberalism five decades ago than today.

Even if you assume the past version of the nation was just kinda bad, what if everyone in the country currently decides that they prefer that way of living anyway, even if freedoms were more limited, and they vote for it, and peacefully implement it, without infringing on the politics or freedom of other nations. How is that fascistic?

Fascism is about authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and fanatically implementing an ideology that demands reshaping and re-engineering society. Today's progressive movement is more fascistic than anything else the Western world can provide.

This is what bothers me about everyone's interpretation of Hitler and Nazism. These weren't bad because of racism. Racism was a by-product of what the movement was trying to do, which was to re-create society from the ground up in the Aryan image. THIS is what made Nazism evil. This sociopathic desire to remake humanity and play with it as if it was a Lego set.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but... you're like a sister to me.
In other news, what do you think about moving to Alabama with me?

I don't have a habit of bookmarking studies to "own" people in random debates. But this one, I feel like it could be important to hang onto for a while.
I hope it gets mainstreamed (mostly through various YouTubers and podcasters who aren't left-wing cultists, cause I know everyone else won't touch this with a ten foot pool) and people discuss it. If there's some big flaw in methodology, let it be discovered. But if it's good... I feel sorry for the people who are gonna be on the receiving end of blowback.

@matrix Knowing you, this is cursed in some way that flies over my head.

I'll just leave this here. The results are... not good.

@icedquinn It's interesting that I can read this as criticism against the left and right wing, and it still makes sense. What a world we live in.

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty
I checked. I think they merged getting notifications for comments, replies and likes to comments under the same toggle.

@beardalaxy Haven't followed up on the rumors close enough, cause I hadn't heard that one.
Only thing I really hope for is that it brings something unique, revolutionary, some new tech to the table, so that it maintains the legacy of the series. If it can do that, and if it resolves the story started in HL2, I'd be perfectly happy if Valve never talks about Half-Life ever again.

@beardalaxy Honestly, until I see it released, I'm not actually putting my hopes up for an HL3, but the codename has been around in leaks for way too long to not be a big title. Even if it's not HL3, it's at least HL:Alyx levels of importance within the story.

@PinochetsCommieCopter
That looks nice and all, but how steep would that road (drawn via red brush) be? Don't know about US, but you see roads like this all the time in Europe, that snake around hills, because going straight up would be too steep.

Question: Was the Lego movie good?

I just realized that, while I KNOW I did watch it, I don't remember a single thing from it, and I've never had that yearning to rewatch it, like I've had for all sorts of movie that I loved over the years.
So was the Lego movie actually sucky, but people got tricked by a few fun movements to think it was good?

@LukeAlmighty He represents their twisted stereotypes of masculinity that they somehow brought into reality.
They're scared of him because the reason he exists as he is purely because he listened to what feminists think men and toxic masculinity is, and decided that since he's a man, he must follow what they describe.
