If you don't want to watch the video, TL;DW is that a girl got kidnapped but was allowed to still use her Switch. Her friend saw her online which led to the proper authorities asking Nintendo for the IP address the Switch was connected to, which led to them getting the girl back.

I'm glad she is safe now, but I can't help thinking that this kind of thing will be used maliciously in the future. I don't trust Nintendo OR the FBI to act in our best interests all the time.

@beardalaxy trusting a company who would sue someone for pirating their 25 years old game is not good in the first place.

@beardalaxy Me trying not to fedpost after hearing the subhuman only got 30 years.
This is why they keep doing this shit. That is nowhere near enough or punishing enough.

@beardalaxy
FBI can get the IP any day...
But this is a good story. It's nice to see all the draconian shit be occasionally used for the good.

It's been used maliciously for the last decade or so at least and still is and will continue to be.

They just throw in one feelgood story here and there as breadcrumbs. They're still doing far more harm than good. Feds groom vulnerable people into active shootings on discord all the time.
