I'm beginning to wonder how many people I interact with on a daily basis, even offline, are substantially real.

@beardalaxy sincerity is an unaffordable luxury, both terminally online autists and terminally online turbonormies can't afford it because it impacts survivability

@LukeAlmighty @beardalaxy and look at where it got you, you're in the backwaters of the internet for losers like you and I, where we're blocked even by furry troons

@tomie @beardalaxy
It got me to a place, where I was finally able to integrate back into the society and find a community. It got me friends who wonder how did I manage to become an extrovert in such a short duration.

I become healthy again.

@LukeAlmighty @beardalaxy good for you, but it doesn't change the fact that this is the backwards of the internet feared by normies who manage to learn about it somehow and terminally online who have not developed critical thinking and rely on global blacklists

and honestly, not just you, I've seen several users on this instance alone reporting better news

@tomie @beardalaxy
I don't get your point. That's like saying, that water is bad, because you can drown... to a fish.

I need that level of freedom and honesty. The longhousing of facebook and schools is what drove me to the breaking point in the first place.

@LukeAlmighty @tomie you're online a lot, but clearly not terminally online because you still have balance. i'm on the internet a shit ton, but i still have lots of stuff going for me outside of it. that's the ideal intention, to augment rather than replace the way humans communicate and learn.

@beardalaxy @tomie
I never expected to be NoTrueScotsmanned out of being a incel or a neet...

What a weird age to be living in 🤣

@LukeAlmighty @tomie nah that's not what it is at all. we're living lives outside of the internet, have jobs and IRL hobbies and talk to people. some people may sensationalize some character traits to lump you in those categories but they're fucking retarded so whatever. carry on, lad.

the kinds of people tomie's talking about are the people who either straight up sit on the internet all day and have no real life outside of it, or the normies who have let the internet completely override their normal rational thought and just go along with whatever the curated algorithm on the phone says. if i'm understanding correctly, at least.

there have always been people like that in society as well, but i do think the internet (rather, the post-smartphone internet) has greatly exacerbated that and exposed a lot of people who otherwise might have been totally fine without its existence to a straight up worse standard of living. you had your hermits and your trend chasers, but now it seems that those groups have gotten so monolithic that it is hard to escape them. it's the hardest thing to not simply give up and join one of them, but that's where the sincerity topic comes up. sincerity is a virtue, and virtues aren't directly advantageous to the physical/societal survival of a person. they are only helpful for your soul, which there seems to be quite a lack of these days... hence my original post.

I am sorry, but you're either romanticising the hell out of the tiny progress I did made, or I have no concept of the things you're talking about.
