re: Useful info/advice about plastic guitar games
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 a hammer-on is the note that has the light coming out of the center of it. you don't have to strum when you press it as long as you have hit the previous note.
given that you have a controller with a slider on it though (that bar in the center of the neck), that's not a guitar hero 3 controller. it's likely from smash hits if it had through the fire and the flames in it. or maybe you are just getting some memories mixed up. a guitar hero 3 wii controller looks like this. it looks like this one is the "world tour" guitar, which was the 4th game. unfortunately that's one of the worst ones, the strum bars go out pretty frequently, so if you notice any issues it's best go just go with modding it.
@hispanicweeb okay i've actually heard elephant before, i don't know from where but probably from vinny's stream since he likes them a lot and plays music during his BRBs. i dig it though!
powerlines sounds cool too, actually sounds a lot like the title would suggest lol. nice atmospheric track.
tame impala has a very "classic" sound for lack of a better word, they definitely stand out in the current music landscape and that's probably why they're as popular as they are! it's like the classic expectation of what the future would be like. they sound like how frutiger aero looks like.
@hispanicweeb last night, good night... is that the right one? it's very calm, i like it! most of the vocaloid music is listen to is actually from Utsu-P which is metal, so it's always a little jarring to hear miku sounding so soft, but it's still very nice c:
re: Useful info/advice about plastic guitar games
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 ooooh yeah, if your only experience is with guitar hero then you might not end up liking it nearly as much. i really would not spend that much on a guitar unless you really just have that sort of money floating around.
@hispanicweeb i really like "the less i know the better" by tame impala. any other specific recs for them?
porter robinson i've been listening to a lot lately, especially songs from his newest album and especially "cheerleader." i don't know his older stuff very well other than "get your wish" because anamanaguchi did a cover of it.
vocaloid is such an extremely massive thing lol, glad you gave me some specifics for that one xD
beard thoughts + good song
i fucking love this song, it really speaks to me. just never truly feeling 100% a part of something and feeling like a lot of people don't understand you, or trying to put labels on you so that they can pretend like they understand. it's a little isolating and i've felt like that for most of my life.
don't get me wrong i'm happy to have friends and stuff, but for a lot of the places i've been and the friends i've had, it feels very temporary because none of them understand me. it feels somewhere in between understanding and tolerating. i think this is just another part of why i'll never be in a serious relationship again either, because i'm a bit of a challenge to unpack. it's not like i can change that either, because i feel like i'd be giving up a fundamental part of myself. i don't want to be with someone who isn't willing to unpack that, either, because then it would just feel fake. a lot of things feel fake and fleeting, and i guess a lot of people just learn how to accept it and push through because their priorities aren't quite the same.
i'm not as famous as vinny is (the lead singer and writer of this song), but i can sort of feel that same thing. everybody seems to know who you are, but nobody seems to KNOW who you are and most people also don't seem to care to know. you just sort of have to accept your position in life sometimes and make the most of it, and try to make yourself the best version of yourself you can be despite anything else.
Useful info/advice about plastic guitar games
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 Alright, looked into Gitadora and the Gitaller a little bit. I've actually played it at the arcade before.
$289 is way too much money to spend on something like this and I wouldn't recommend it. The construction is super solid and apparently extremely similar to the arcade cabinet's controller, but it's almost *too* solid when stacked up against the Guitar Hero controller, which has easier to press frets, a thinner/shorter neck, and a less rigid strumbar. The Gitaller will probably feel a lot more premium to hold, but I don't think it'll feel nicer to actually play with.
Have you played Gitadora in the arcade before? Do you know how it works, as opposed to Guitar Hero? I've only played it once like I said, but needing to strum for every single note instead of there being some hammer-ons (the notes where you don't have to strum) is insane. That, mixed with the rigid strum bar and how far the frets are from each other, is going to make your right arm/wrist and left fingers start hurting way faster.
Unless you have played the arcade cabinet quite a lot and really enjoy it, I wouldn't personally advise investing in a controller that is that expensive. Not when there are superior Guitar Hero and even Rock Band options out there.
There are two great options, the way I see it. Refurb your GH controller with that USB adapter and some replacement parts, and that will run you under $100 USD. Alternatively, there is a new Rock Band controller on the market if you prefer its rectangle frets and smooth strum bar. Can't say I like either too much but I know there are people who do. The Riffmaster is only $130, less than half the price of that Gitaller: https://pdp.com/products/xbox-series-x-s-xbox-one-pc-riffmaster-wireless-guitar-controller
However, with the Riffmaster, it still has rubber domes for its frets and those are going to wear down faster than the Retro Cult solderless mechanical kit.
As far as the actual game Gitadora goes, I'm personally not a fan of the strum thing or the way the fretboard in-game is laid out. I much prefer GH/RB's angled fretboard. I'm assuming that you'll have to buy additional songs since it is an official game. For Clone Hero and YARG, you can just download songs for free and plop them into the game's folder, where they'll just work with the game. I wouldn't be surprised if people have ported all of Gitadora's songs over and maybe even enhanced them a bit to include things like hammer-ons. Gitadora seems basically like a primitive version of Guitar Hero in my eyes, and that makes sense because it came before it. If you really like it though, I'm not trying to change your opinion of that or anything, just that if you're not super crazy about it then spending that much money on a guitar to play it I don't think is a wise choice.
What Gitadora does have that Clone Hero and YARG don't is an online leaderboard. YARG is getting one eventually, and Clone Hero HAD one but long story short it doesn't anymore and probably won't ever. So, if you're looking specifically to challenge other players then that might be a good bet. IDK if it has direct online play or not, but Clone Hero does.
I'm also just now reading that Gitadora is subscription based? That's gross! Paying $289 for a controller that is really only going to work well for a subscription platform is ass. I'd seriously recommend Clone Hero or YARG instead if all you're looking to do is have fun with a plastic guitar game. It's all community-driven, you're not paying an arm and a leg, and you're certainly not paying a subscription fee. I can only imagine how bad it would suck to not be able to pay the sub and then your expensive controller turns into something just above a paper weight because it sucks to play any other guitar rhythm game with it.
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 I don't know how good their guitars are. They might kind of suck. Meanwhile, Wii guitar with mechanical frets over USB is actually literally the best option, at least for clone hero.
Guitar Hero 3 is the one with TTFAF at the end of the bonus setlist, but this is a newer guitar than that because of the slide bar. This might be from Guitar Hero Smash Hits.
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 yeah definitely needs a cleaning lol. I think that's a world tour guitar, and I think you can buy stuff from them that will work with it. Just make sure. It's gonna be a lot of tinkering probably. You'll also end up spending a decent chunk of change still if you're getting replacement parts. It'll be like 1/3 the price though so Def worth it..

If you want to go even further than just the adapter, they even have solder less fret replacement kits. The rubber domes go bad and at this point they're really not in good shape for most people so that's a great next step.
@Ronnie21093 @supersid333 I posted about a really cheap and good Wii guitar hero converter a while back. Let me see if I can find it again.
You should look into clone hero and YARG too if you haven't already
@merchantHelios do not cite the deep magic to me
@DrBtc they'll all be raised in a cult unfortunately
@doonxib @Turkleton i'm 28 and i still get people like 2 years older than me calling me "bud" despite my beard being longer than than my face
