@No_body anything but ugly bastard i fucking hate that trope. ruins the beauty of a loli completely.
okay, maybe i WON'T be playing paralives today. or any time soon. lots of talk about insanely long loading times, crashing, major glitches. the game even just straight up caused one guy's PC to shut down lol. i already learned my lesson with inzoi, i'm not paying nearly $40 for this until all these problems are ironed out at the very least.
it seems like, from what i'm reading, while YES it does solve tons of stuff that is wrong about the sims, it doesn't really have anything that makes those games good either.
@pettanko @Jens_Rasmussen and it doesn't make me like him any less or anything. i'm not here to police what people enjoy from their media and people don't have to have the exact same experience i do or they're doing it wrong. it's just a little bit sad though imo. branch out a little bit and keep an open mind.
@pettanko @Jens_Rasmussen the amount of times I have had to explain to him that not every game has to have the same mechanics as hollow knight or dark souls is crazy man. He died in the ice cavern in OoT and, I shit you not, said he had to go back to pick up his stuff. I hadn't realized the entire game up to that point he had always gone back to exactly where he died because he thought he had to. Crazy.
@Spooke @smugumin @berkberkman aeris dies... Oh man what a throwback. Nah it was basically a r34 website, a proto booru. I went there quite a bit lmao.
@Jens_Rasmussen dude was just laughing at everything and he straight up said it was like a comedy at the end. He laughed out loud at so many parts that were like, definitely not supposed to be funny. Like leonidas' death surrounded by the other Spartans covered in arrows, or the one guy's son dying, or Theron raping the queen. I think it might be a zoomer mannerism not far removed from irony poisoning but I don't really have a term for it off the top of my head. Like, humor getting so absurd and well, "brain rotted" like I said, that if something is too overtly serious it loops around into becoming funny for them?
Then there are things like not understanding metaphors/symbolism. when the narrator said leonidas had the 300 at his back, even though most of his men were dead, this nigga was laughing at what was supposed to be kind of a cool line because he legitimately didn't understand that the 300 were with him in spirit. I brought it up and I could see his brain starting to melt in real time.
Idk man maybe it's generational, maybe it's just him. he crashes out over zelda bosses not requiring "true skill" because they all have a secret strategy required to beat them instead of learning attack patterns and won't accept the explanation that it's more of a mental battle rather than raw execution. He's not willing to meet media where it stands, he wants all of it to be exactly the way he thinks it should be otherwise it's bad.
@smugumin see, when I think of anime, this is the kind of thing my brain goes to first.
@berkberkman @smugumin FF7 was kind of a 2000s internet gamer cultural phenomenon. Even if you had never played the game you still had a Cloud wallpaper on your computer somewhere and thought the buster sword was the best weapon in anything ever. Advent Children was an extension of that. It's just fucking cool.
