watched the backrooms movie. i thought it was decent, they took the concept about as far as they could have to make something good with it. i don't know why every single psychological horror movie has to have a therapist in it though.
i personally would have preferred the movie to be centered around the actual research team going in there, but it would have been easier to make it a bad movie than what they ended up doing. i think they made it just normal people going in there to try and make it more relatable to amplify the horror aspect of it, but the relatability kind of falls apart when you think to yourself "i wouldn't keep exploring."
so yeah, not a bad movie, but i don't think you're missing anything by not watching it. honestly, things like the backrooms and liminal spaces are less scary to me than they are just interesting and almost cozy in a strange way. because of that, i don't really vibe with horror content involving them. i think the best example of this sort of thing is still MyHouse.wad.
@Jens_Rasmussen people who feel static. Inorganic. As an example, an LLM that doesn't have a large enough dataset so it is always repeating itself. People who, when challenged, seem to glitch out and either revert to factory settings or hallucinate and spit out garbage. People who seem to just lack general awareness and critical thinking skills. People who seem to lack an actual identity of their own and only maintain a facsimile of one that they have absorbed.
I find myself having a hyper awareness that I don't see in other people and it bothers me from time to time because it feels like it should just be the standard way somebody should act. I don't think it's crazy to expect and I only say it is hyper awareness in comparison to the relative awareness I observe. If I point out a mistake someone will say sorry or try to correct it in the moment but the lasting behavior doesn't change so I know it's just empty. It's not real. A couple particular instances I don't want to expound upon are eating me alive at the moment and I can't fall asleep. Today, in general, I've been feeling this sense that I'm living in unreality.
@The_Vampire_Brigade @Leverson this nigga blocked me lmao
@RehnyNytes256 sorry bro

@colahpse yeah it definitely isn't their fault, but it's also not going to do well anyway.
@Druid @Shadowman311 if we're being completely honest, any random cop male or female would probably do the same thing if there's a guy running at you from the same place the shooter is lighting you up from. it's extremely unfortunate but if you don't take that shot and it turns out it was the guy, you're dead instead. it's much easier for us, looking from a bird's eye view hours later, to make that judgement call.
her partner going down crawls away while she's trying to hold position. running over to check on him at that point would be compromising herself.
running away and not neutralizing the threat, on the other hand, is the actual problem here. at the very least, you want to hold him there for as long as possible before backup can arrive. neutralize threat, then check on officer/civilian. you chose to be a cop, you chose to put your life on the line, you need to do that in order to protect everyone else then that's what you gotta' do.
