watched the backrooms movie. i thought it was decent, they took the concept about as far as they could have to make something good with it. i don't know why every single psychological horror movie has to have a therapist in it though.
i personally would have preferred the movie to be centered around the actual research team going in there, but it would have been easier to make it a bad movie than what they ended up doing. i think they made it just normal people going in there to try and make it more relatable to amplify the horror aspect of it, but the relatability kind of falls apart when you think to yourself "i wouldn't keep exploring."
so yeah, not a bad movie, but i don't think you're missing anything by not watching it. honestly, things like the backrooms and liminal spaces are less scary to me than they are just interesting and almost cozy in a strange way. because of that, i don't really vibe with horror content involving them. i think the best example of this sort of thing is still MyHouse.wad.

In a turn of events that actually surprised me, my latest Dark Mod FM is basically beta-ready. I was tinkering away with the map geometry for some time, but once I realized that all the areas I needed were already built, it was a simple matter of designing the objective logic and placing a few triggers to create the end-game scenario, and suddenly the mission was basically complete.
It still needs some polish here and there, and of course a round of beta-testing. But it's now possible to play from start to finish as intended. I actually think I'll be able to release it this year.
