Man my first Star Fox run was ass lol, that's what I get for playing with detached joycons in tabletop mode lol. The graphics are REALLY nice but it does make it a bit harder to parse out stuff you need to shoot on a smaller screen. The gameplay is exactly how I remember it more or less, although for some reason they made the Blue Marine move to the side when doing barrel rolls instead of staying stationary which really changes the way you need to play the stage. The voice acting for the characters on your side of the Lylat Wars is all really good, but the enemies... None of them sound like they're actually evil. Idk, their line delivery isn't as brutal as it should be. I haven't seen Bill yet, but everyone on Star Fox, Pepper, and Katt are all great. Katt honestly maybe has the best lines out of anyone.
Can't wait to get back home and play it on a real TV with the cube controller! Can't play any more at work because the battery in my console only lasted for one run before dying.
it's really interesting seeing new star fox players vs old star fox players reviewing the new remake.
people who have played the 64 original tend to think it is still a great game but that it doesn't do enough extra to justify the price point or even its sheer existence, although they have hope for the future of the series now.
however, people who are just playing star fox for the first time seem to be fucking loving it. they love how different it feels from every other modern game, whereas the old guys wish it had some more modern sensibilities in it.
super interesting dichotomy going on there.
