okay... why in the hell does the chainsaw man movie have such a massively high rating?

is there just some crazy anime hype right now? people are glazing it to hell and back.

it didn't really do anything that i haven't seen in anime anywhere else. like it was fine, it was a good movie, but 99/100? what does an 8/10 or even a 7/10 anime movie look like in comparison?

maybe it's mostly younger, newer anime watchers who are rating this stuff so they think it's hella unique or something but i came out of the theater like "yeah that was an anime movie alright."

i think it might be that hollywood sucks so much ass that it has actually just lowered people's standards on what a 10/10 movie would be. like, are we going to pretend that chainsaw man reze arc is on the same level of or better than spirited away? is it because it is more mature and edgy? is it more palatable?

or maybe it is because i haven't seen the rest of the series, so i don't have as much emotional attachment to it. if they executed the movie well and the fans like it that's awesome, but maybe some people are a little too invested.

who knows apparently i also have absolute shit taste because i like things nobody else likes and don't like things that everybody does so maybe it's just me.
